The Leiden Ranking

Leiden University’s Centre for Science and Technology Studies (CWTS) has developed a new ranking list based exclusively on bibliometric indicators. In early 2007, the CWTS presented its ranking results for the 100 European universities with the largest number of scientific publications. Now the CWTS proposes, for 750 universities, four different indicators, each resulting in a different ranking as follows:

  1. Largest number of publications (P)
  2. Mean citation score (MCS)
  3. Mesn normalised citation score (MNCS)
  4. Proportion of top 10% publications. (PP Top 10%)

Indicator 4 (PP top 10%) is the only one presented on our website.
